Drink More and More Water
You've more than likely been told this thousands of times in your life, and for good reason.
Water is the elixir of life. It provides your body with numerous health benefits that are hard to get anywhere else in your diet.
Almost everyone knows that the human body consists of more than 70-percent water, so it's obviously an essential part of the way your organs operate.
Your body craves water like it craves food, so your "hunger" may not be hunger at all... It may just be your body telling you it needs more water to hydrate. If you plan on working out (which you should) you'll need water to replace the sweat.
Most people in the modern-day don't get the ideal amount of water. They either substitute it with sodas and juice, which is a horrible replacement, or they just don't prioritize it enough.
There are a few helpful ways to set yourself up for success. Invest in a bigger water bottle that's closer to a gallon in size.
While it may be annoying it doesn't fit in a cupholder, it gives a physical representation of where you're at with your water intake each day. You're not done consuming water until the jug/bottle is completely empty. Period.
Prioritize Extra Means of Cardio

Working out is a lengthy battle of trying to find the right balance for both your daily schedule and the needs that your body has to be pushed to its limits.
For some of you, that may mean installing extra time slots to do a bit of cardio.
If you're trying to slim down and gain muscle simultaneously, then you'll need a healthy mix of lifting free weights and performing cardio.
Many people make the mistake of having the cardio be the main source of exercise, and weight lifting is the "add-on" for 15-20 minutes. If that's you, then you need to flip the script!
Try to find weight lifting programs with workouts consisting of 45-50 minutes of workouts at a time. From there, you can do 15-20 minutes of cardio a few times a week to optimize muscle growth but prioritize fat trimming.
It's your preference on whether you perform the 45 minutes of weight lifting and 15 minutes of cardio at the same time or at separate times that day.
Please keep in mind that you don't need these extra cardio sessions every day. Just installing a few more on occasion throughout your week will help you see better results.
Stick to a Consistent Schedule
View your body as a machine, it operates best when it's used and pushed more often. The less it's used, the worse it's overall quality will be.
Those massive biceps and boulder shoulders you're wanting will only come after months and years of consistently pushing your body to its limits. Muscle grows when the body feels it needs more compensation for high activity and heavy lifting.
To start that trend, find yourself a workout schedule that you can do consistently week-in and week-out. 
This doesn't mean you need to be working out every day of the week. Starting off with 3-4 workout days each week, with a rest day in between, will help your body get used to its "new normal".

One of the best ways to keep yourself accountable is by finding a workout program you believe in, and writing along with it. Write out details on each set, rep, and weight that you do.
If the workout program you buy doesn't have fill-in spots, either bring a small notebook and pen to the gym or create your own list on excel.
Prioritize Your Diet
Last but not least, make sure that you're focusing as much, if not more, on maintaining a healthy diet when you train.
Food is the fuel your body uses to recover and replenish after strenuous workout sessions. Putting unhealthy food into your body is like putting the wrong gasoline in a car: it won't work properly.  Supplementation is also an important piece of the puzzle. It gives your body the extra boost it needs to perform at its maximum potential.
